BirdSpotter Photo Contest: Weeks 6, 7, and 8 Winners!
We got a little behind on posting our BirdSpotter photo contest winners on the FeederWatch blog with the recent holiday break, so we’re going to give you the last three weeks in one whirlwind post!
Week 6: Birds and Water
Debi Rabin of Phoenixville, PA snapped the winning photo for week 6, of a Bald Eagle snatching a fish out of the water.
Debi says:
The photo was taken at Conowingo Dam in Maryland. Was a gorgeous day weather wise on November 21, 2011 and the eagles were plentiful. They were fish diving, chasing and soaring everywhere, was hard to decide which eagle to follow then out of the corner of my eye I saw this guy put the talons out, head cocked looking down and then wham, I didn’t know I captured this particular shot until I got home to sort out my captures.
Week 7: The Unexpected
Holly VandenBrink took the winning photo for week 7 for week 6 with the theme “the unexpected”.
It seems that the shot was unexpected for everyone involved! Holly says:
The hawk was on my fence, when through the camera viewer I could see the Squirrel come into sight, I couldn’t believe it. They both went their own directions, no one was harmed

Week 8: Shades of Blue
Week 8′s winner came to us from Diane Marshman of New Milford, PA with this wondeful capture of an Indigo Bunting. We can’t think of a much better bird to win a week with the theme of “shades of blue!”
Congratulations to the winners of the last three weeks! The ninth week of our BirdSpotter Photo Contest will be open for submissions and voting this Wednesday, January 9th! This week’s theme is “birds in flight.” Only one photo can be submitted per person but you can vote for as many photos as you like. This week’s contest runs through Sunday, January 13th.

All of these photos are super! I have submitted a few over the weeks but when I see the talent of fellow birdwatchers, I have no chance to win. it is fun, anyway.
Thanks for sending this to me. I always enjoy the birds. Look forward to tomorrow!! Sleep good! Rhonda
Gorgeous bird.
